How to prepare for "silver tsunami"?
by Lenka Filipova

A few years ago there was no need to have such a widely extended knowledge how to treat the older people in America. This has, however, changed as the imminent silver tsunami is coming soon. William Kreager, a Seattle architect, used this term "silver tsunami" to describe the wave of baby boomers born just after the World War II. He warned about the impact on the housing market and the population growth by 75 percent by 2010. Due to this crucial case, a new necessity emerged. Brown and other medical schools are now expanding additional geriatric courses to acknowledge the accurate care for the elderly and to train as many specialists as possible. The U.S. Census Bureau draws the attention to the ratio of the elderly to the geriatric physicians. It claims that by 2030 the number of old Americans will double to 71 million, resulting in 7,655 seniors per one physician. Richard Besdine, who is director of the geriatrics division at Brown University medical school in Providence, Rhode Island, and past president of the American Geriatrics Society, signalizes that the first small waves have already come and America is still not convenient to deal with this task. He underscored also that a strategic and coordinated action should be taken to handle this issue responsibly and conscientiously. The major problem is that the geriatrics is not very lucrative field of medical choice. It is mainly because of poor pay and hard ailment diagnosis. Even some specialists who concentrate on health and aging population confirm that this medical branch is a difficult and complicated job, badly paid and no stable status. The American Geriatric Society has tempted the need of another 13,000 geriatricians essential to give adequate care for the elderly. Moreover, the Hartford Foundation supported medical schools financially by giving more than $40 million and the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation donated $100 million to 30 schools to include more geriatric departments.

Open-source software at schools
by Lenka Filipova

A new report including 14 countries brought in a new very compelling issue that educational institutional are going to spend more money on open-source software. According to market research company Datamonitor, it is estimated that basic and secondary schools are going to spend together on open-source software cca US$489.9 million by 2012. This task is mainly the matter of interviews with retailers and school officials in the U.S., Canada, UK, France, Germany, Australia, India, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Italy. The expenditures include many essential parts of getting familiar with the software and the management systems, training and learning. Even though, there is significant enlargement in the interest in the open-source software, it is predicted that by the end of 20121 it will stagnate. Those institutions that are open-minded to this investment expect a proper return and as they are aware of the fact that the licenses are for free, the up- keeping and support might equal the price of the proprietor programs. There are several reasons of choosing the open-source software, such as economical and strategic reason as well s philosophical refusing any encouragement of commercial companies. Another option is determined by the recent dissatisfaction of schools with Blackboard, a major provider of enterprise educational software and services. The rest is keen on due to the rise in government interest. Blackboard's market share is about 70 percent including the requisition of an educational company WebCT for $180 million in 2005. But this company is appealing for those with smaller budget that are not able to finance developers to cerate their own open-source applications. As Justin Davidson, associate analyst at Datamonitor said "It's not the death of proprietary software." It is all in the hands of proper and friendly cooperation.

Nikdy nekončiace písomné testy, hodnotiace testy, inteligenčné testy atď. a potom druhé kolo & osobné pohovory. Povedzte nám niečo o vaÅ¡ich slabostiach a silných stránkach. Prečo by sme si mali vybraÅ¥ práve vás?

Are you an university or college student? Are you in your first or second year? Staring at everything with eyes wide open wondering when will all the things around you start making any sense? Hoping to pass an exam? Trembling with fear when the crabby professor comes in and looks into your eyes with a gaze clearly saying "I know you suck. You are nothing. I'm the boss. I' the god." It can be very disappointing. Once you are a student, you have to get accustomed to such an approach and unfairness. Maybe you'd studied hard and though you did not succeed. However, much more important lesson you have to learn is out there. I mean the "real life". Don't expect that when you graduate there will be your life-time opportunity waiting just for you with a banner saying "We'd love to have you here with us, everything's gonna be smooth and easy.". All you will find is just the gap between reality and theory. First problem is getting a job you desire. Never-ending writing tests, assessment tests, intelligence test, etc. and then the second round & face to face interviews. Tell us something about your weaknesses and strengths. Why should we choose you? Then you finally get a job (not so desirable). Job including crabby boss who comes in and looks into your eyes with a gaze clearly saying "I know you suck. You are nothing. I'm the boss. I'm the god."

Studying at the Yale more reachable
by Natalia Holvova

Studying at Yale University means a lot. It means prestige, rareness, professional education and opportunity to become whatever you want. Yale University is like a gate. Huge, decorated and history emblazoned gate into the world you choose. There are no limits when you have a Master from Yale. Everything change once you get into the school campus and open your book for the first time. It is like a whole space has just concentrated into one little point right on the spot you are standing on. A dream University is not for free of course what put limits for students from middle class or basically for everyone who can not afford paying tuition, room and board at Yale. The campus is the place where all smart people wants to go and if they do not have money for attending such a school, they try at least come and walk on the grass of legendary educational Mekka. The fact that school cost are not achievable for everyone who deserves to study here is well-known in the academic society as well as around the world. A movement for better college access and success put together some of schools already, now if Yale and Harvard join them, there is a possibility to get the Yale education for more students from non-wealthy families. Yale official already announced boosts in financial aid what will cut the average cost more than in half for families in financial need! The only thing we need now is the sound of winning drums to celebrate all the genius kids who will change the history of The Yale University.
